PE and Sport Premium 2025/26

How to Spend It Wisely and Boost Whole-School Impact

What Is the PE and Sport Premium?

The Primary PE and Sport Premium provides ring-fenced funding to all state primary schools in England. It’s designed to:

  • Raise the quality of physical education (PE) provision
  • Increase pupil activity levels
  • Support sustainable teacher CPD in PE
  • Embed physical activity across the school day
  • Improve behaviour, focus, and mental health outcomes
  • Schools receive £16,000 + £10 per eligible pupil in Years 1 to 6.

Why This Year Matters

2025/26 is a key year. Here’s why:

  • A new PE Premium reporting tool is being piloted — which means closer scrutiny on how funds are spent.
  • School budgets are under pressure, so there’s less room for waste.
  • Ofsted is increasingly looking for impact and sustainability, not short-term fixes.
  • Teachers need support, and children need structured activity more than ever.
  • That’s where a trusted PE scheme like imoves can help.
