Literacy Spelling and Grammar - Age 6 to 7

Spelling contracted words

  • Print off, cut up and spread the words all over your learning space. The further apart the better.
  • Children should find a contracted word card such as 'don't'.
  • Discuss and write down two words that form that contracted word i.e. 'do' and 'not'.
  • Find and write down as many contracted combinations as you can find using the cards.

Download, cut up and spread the words all over your learning space. On top of selves, under chairs etc. to ensure your child gets plenty of opportunity to move around, bend and stretch during this activity.
